Web
Promotion Spider
Mention a spider
and the first thing you think of is those crawling, 8 legged, terrors
that you will not touch with a twenty foot pole. Contrastingly a
spider on the net (called a Web Spider) is a bot that any webmaster
should happily welcome and let crawl all over their website. This
may seem trival at first, but understanding how web spiders crawl
and index your page, can be invaluable in improving your search
engine.
There are various
kinds of web
promotion spiders that search engines use; deep, shallow and
verification are the three main types. Spiders
are what most search engines use to determine what kind of content
a webpage has and to also collect the essential data about the web
page to index and store. How a search engine indexes its pages are
based on creteria such as; title, meta tag, content, keyword frequency,
theme and most importantly your domain name.
Generally there
are a couple of things that the spider will especially look for
including: title, meta tags, texts in the page related to the keyword,
whether you are spamming or not, and such. If you write a whole
page of nothing but the keyword, the spider is smart enough to pick
that up. The result will be remove of listing, or worse a ban of
the domain. So a well designed page with rich content is often the
best way to go.
